Idea: Blog for your forum

Forum Talk Logo“I put up a temporary site/blog…even though it’s named “Legends” I’ll use the site for personal thought as well” Said forum admin Austin, owner of the newly refurbished Legends forum.

Realizing forum addicts didn’t quite get the idea of extensive forum roleplaying, Austin decided to blog about it, rant, update, talk, ponder, read the editor’s say about the idea.

Short term projects over long term ones

Image hosted by Photobucket.comIn this post i’m going to concentrate on a very important topic: forum projects, specifically arguing for short-run projects.

From Wikipedia:
A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service. Temporary means that the project has an end date. Unique means that the project’s end result is different than the results of other functions of the organization.

Now for forums a project can be a bit diffferent, but it’s kinda the same…an example of forum project is a contest for example.

8 Threads that make forums interesting.

This time in Forum-Talk i’m writing about threads that make your forum more interesting place for it’s members, it’s kind of expansion to to clause 5 from “5 forum deeds for neater forums”. Another little tidy list that takes no more than 30 minutes to implement, and adds alot to your forum.

Note: this is extra threads, let alone basic & required ones.

Forumer users to make money?

Limez, the admin of the Forumer support forum, has announced an upcoming feature for forum-admins at Forumer:

“We are in the process of finishing a new, very elaborate, feature for your forums.

I will not disclose any details yet, but I’ll tell you that this feature will allow the forum owners who are motivated and creative to earn some money.”

It’ll be interesting to see how this new thing will work, meanwhile…the topic was locked, probably because Limez doesn’t want anyone to guess the big suprise.

I’ll keep you posted with this,
A.H

5 forum deeds- For neater forums

Image hosted by Photobucket.comAfter a series of short forum-talk articles, it’s time for a short & effective one. I was always a fan of lists, in fact my most popular post was a list and another reason for doing it as a list is that many people tend to skip long articles, they like to see it all summed up, without too many interpretations. Let’s try, shall we?

These five forum deeds are written by me, and they especially talk about keeping your forum neat & clean, so it can be browsed easily by your members & guests (which are potential members):

When it comes to initiating..

Image hosted by Photobucket.comElement 3: Forum admins say their forum are alot of fun to spend time in, they make sure they advertise it on every forum they know, but why is it so hard for them to act when it comes to initiating and getting out of their comfortable bubble?

Forum advertising & marketing has became an agenda for some admins, while others try to submit to topsites list, and the laid back side only in certain forums (with alot of members of course). Now what happens when the admin has to do something to get his members?

A.Hs’ mouth wide open, once again…

Link & Get Linked

The Deal: Help yourself, Help Others.

The Way It Works: you post a comment to this post, linking to your forum and talking about it briefly mentioning how many members you have, and what’s it all about.

Next thing, i post a list of all the forums that were mentioned in the comments, each one with its’ link and description.

And then come the big part: admins who commented with links to their forums will open a topic called “A.H’s Forums List”, which link to the posted list.

The Catch: the more people we get to comment to this post with their forum links, the more people will post the list on their forums, and the bigger your chance to get new members will be!

Spread the word, link to this post, and remmember, it’s all about cooperation. !Place reserved to first 20 forums!

Forums: What’s Up?

Hmmm, I took a quick glance at all of the forums i used to visit, and on those i still visit, some forums seems to be gathering dust, some are going steady, and some are blooming:

Let it be, let it be something new.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comElement 2: Technically, creating forums these days is so easy, the hard part comes when you have to decide what’s in and what’s out. A post about innovation and its’ success.

Except very few forums around, my demanding brain has been starving for something new to read and discuss, something that shouldn’t be that brilliant nor a new tech-y feature that no other forums can have (though that can be nice), it just needs to be…

Lack of cooperation between forums

Image hosted by Photobucket.comElement Number 1:Admins don’t cooperate actually in-between this community.

Well, this is a very wide clause, but i’ll try to make it long story-short:

Except Affiliating, which is pretty limited (and transparent these days) i barely see any kind of cooperation between forums. I tried to somehow revive the cooperation spirit by opening Tech Twister which offers great plans for admins, and know why it’s not going right? there’s no cooperation, so it’s pretty much closed circuit which keeps going and going creating apathy, killing the chance for small forums to establish, and slowly biting the establishment of ones.

Now, Vice versa…
