Daventry tries out the Cybercar

In a Northamptonshire town, a driverless car is being demonstrated with the hope that it could be an alternative to the car. The Cybercar is controlled by a computer and uses lasers to avoid obstacles. Its called by pressing a button on the route and will go direct to a destination.

The demonstration is being undertaken in Daventry and ends on 5th October and Daventry District Council members hope that this could be a viable way of increasing the use of public transport.

Similar demonstrations are taking place throughout Europe with the European Commission research group CityMobil. The vehicles can be seen on a test track at the town’s Eastern Way.
