Apple Announced the iPhone & iTV

You knew they were both coming, but even so - Apple never fails to get us all hooked up to our screens waiting for their official announcements.

So, bigger news first: Apple Announces the iPhone

Here’s what we got from Job’s transcripts: 3.5-inch touchscreen display, using OSX, 11.6 mm thick, 2MP camera, Bluetooth & Wifi enabled, 8GB of storage and a quadband GSM radio with EDGE.

As for the battery life: According to Jobs it will serve no less than 16 hours of music, or 5 hours of battery life when talking/watching video, a substantial difference if you ask me. But we’ll have to wait for an actual hands-on review before we are fully confident of these numbers.

The iPhone will hit the shelves in the US during June, Europeans will have to be a bit more patient and wait until the 4th quarter of 2007, and poor Asia will have to wait until 2008 to see the iPhone locally distributed.

Prices: $500 for 4GB, $600 for 8GB.

Apple Announces iTV/Apple TV

The iTV, or Apple TV according to Steve Job, was a less exciting announcement, but that’s only if you compare it with the iPhone one. The media extender from Apple has some neat features to offer, such as 40GB of storage (50 hours of video), option for wireless connection and the ability to access your iTunes from any modern device.(component video connection required)

Shipping date for the Apple TV: February 2007, Price tag: $300.
