Understanding Web 2.0

If you’re a frequent web-surfer you have probably already heard the term “Web 2.0″. I, for instance, heard it a lot of times, and eventhough i spend a lot of time updating this blog, i never really understood the true meaning of it. Now it’s time to do a little revision and get the concept understood.
From Wikipedia - “The term Web 2.0 refers to a second generation of services available on the World Wide Web that lets people collaborate and share information online. In contrast to the first generation, Web 2.0 gives users an experience closer to desktop applications than the traditional static Web pages.”
Tim O’Reilly, founder of O’Reilly Media, who actually popularized the term, tried to explain it in a very practical way that will surely give you an extensive idea of how is Web 2.0 different than the previous WWW generation:
