Blogging Dilemma

Note: Allen Heat wrote this post while waiting for World Of Warcraft general update (243 MB) , due to his temporary slow internet connection and extreme boredom, this post might seem over-invested and a very long post.

—-

I’m sure most of the constant visitors here noticed the changes in my blog, and i don’t necessarily the graphical and the new design, i meant the way the blog changed, my writing style, the things i write about, and the services i started to offer: Webhosting & Forum Consultation.

After giving it a thought yesterday, i’m wondering now that i’ve got so many things going around: is it getting too much?

I’m so happy with the activity and the comments i’m hearing, I always wanted an active blog where i write about all i want and still get a decent amount of readers, and it’s been happening lately, which gives me alot of satisfaction. But since this blog started as a personal blog that i didn’t have such expectations towards, and since now i notice such a big difference between the traffic in the latest months and between those of October, i feel kinda obligated to blog here at least once every two days, and it adds to the pressure in my time since i have another blog, two forums….and now, another two commitments: Forum consulations and forum reviews.

The underlined are all under my responsibility [note i didn’t count this blog], these responsibilities take a big amount of time off my daily free-time, and i haven’t even launched the last two features.

Am I able to handle such pressure?….time should tell, meanwhile, i’ll continue as planned, in hope that i won’t have any more crazy ideas implemented here until i arrange myself and feel comfortable with the current ones.

I’ll see you after my pc finishes the updates (that are taking so long!)

Million Dollar Homepage - Now Fake It

Perhaps one of the most popular articles here, talking about Alex Tew and his genius idea of selling pixels, was also one of the most commented to articles in this blog, what bothered me then is that half of the comments were actually semi-spam ones that advertised others (not including the ones i’ve moderated)…But this site has gone one step too much:

The Million Shekel Site

Here it is, right from my home-country, the Israeli exact copy of the original Million Dollar Homepage.

Now take a look at the design, exact. and if you could read Hebrew (the copy-site used language) you couldv’e also notice that the words and features are the the exact translation of what the original says.

The only difference i notice by now is the selling rate:

$300,000+ —> Million Dollar Homepage
0 New Israeli Shekels —> Million Shekel Site

Israelis seem so good at copying sometimes  , frankly: i’m ashamed.

Generally Pleased

Hmm…that’s how i can sum up the last week or so in this blog, i’ve had good traffic rates, i’ve even managed to break my all times record with unique visits (Sitemeter), which reached 69 yesterday :) .

I’ve been looking for affiliation and other way to get me more traffic around here, currently working on some deals that will help me with publicity of my new features, i’ll keep you up to date.

Talking about my new features…both Forum Consultation and Forum Reviews are attracting forum admins around, i hope to start my first pilot in the coming days, and expand these features to something bigger in the future.

Though this week was one of the biggest and most exciting weeks i’ve ever had while blogging, i’ve came across some blogging dilemmas, inter alia turning this blog to fully commercial or keeping the personal trait in it. gonna talk about it in an expanded post in the following days, probably.

In the following week i’m going to lower my activity rate in a bit, i’ll try to keep it on normal, but i have important tests nowadays and don’t want any more interruptions.

See you,
A.H

    2 Nice Keyboards

Yet again i’m back to writing about tech & gadgets, it seems that this blog is going into so many directions, forums, webhosting, my life, and gadgets….phew…let’s start:

The First Keyboard is “Das”, a blank keyboard:

    Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Now the question that’s asked first: why would someone want to buy a blank keyboard? In the site they answer by saying that using this keyboard will increase your writing speed by 100% in a few weeks…nice explanation, perhaps nice marketing, i don’t know, you name it.

If i was to give it a second thought, i’d probably buy this blank keyboard, cause after all, no matter how furstrating it’d be in the beginning, i’m sure it will increase my writing speed signficantly :) .

Now let’s talk about another keyboard, the one that really made me go:

    New Design & Feature!

    Hello There!

So i’ve decided to come up with a new feature, which is Free Forum Consulting, starting from graphical changes, board names, policy, rules, and rolls to affiliation programs! :D

So i started designing a new header for this blog, and as you see, the result is pretty nice (made with PS and not GIMP), but then i realized it doesn’t match the other colors of this blog, so i decided to spend 2 hours on changing this blog colors, which was a pain in the ass, definitely.

I hope you like the new colors, if you find anything odd, or disturbing for the eye, please comment and tell, it’s very important!

The Forum Consulting feature will be fully explained in the “Forum Consulting” page in the underneath the (new) header, the page is temporarily down, but you’ll be able to sign up and see the conditions in less than 24 hours from now! :D

Enjoy, and tell me what you think ;)

    Google Reader: Beta Stage

Yet another service Google offers, after google search, gmail, google earth, googlefor, comes the newly Beta tested: Google Reader!

    Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Google reader is basically a browser-based RSS feed aggregator, which lets you keep up with the latest updates of almost anything you want to follow via the internet. The service is still under Beta stage, but from my first exprience it seems that everything works just fine, here are some of my notes & Impressions:

    Blogger Reachs 5 Figures

Nick, an owner of 5 blogs with various topics, announced lately he has finally became a 5 figure blogger….

Nick started blogging about a year ago, and followed the tips and articles of Darren Rowse, the ProBlogger, Nick Says:

  • With Darrenââ?¬â?¢s tips Iââ?¬â?¢ve taken my Google Adsense revenue to levels I never imagined making from blogs. Iââ?¬â?¢ve earned more from advertising in the past 3 months than I had in the previous 6.

  • Nick showed a chart aswell, which can be showed in his announcment post here.

Now the reason i’m writing about this is to show how blogs change lives of people, Nick was on of those lucky (and smart) people that followed the right ways, and made the right descions, and he makes quite a some out of it :) .

I’m not dreaming of getting like this, from the simple reason that i’m not blogging to earn money, it’s just some kind of bonus, but while i’m reading these stories, i decided to set myself some goals for 2006 with my own profits & try to reach them, i’ll keep you updated ;) .

    May You Rest In Peace

Sergeant Nidal Mansoor, a 20 year-old soldier, has been shot and killed at the Rocco Beitz nightclub in southern Haifa. Police say the attackers were locals who were refused entry to the nightclub, and a number of suspects have been arrested.

Family members described Nidal as a young and happy man, who loved life, and who had a promising military career ahead of him.

Arkan, a cousin, told Ynet that he had gone fishing with Nidal on Friday in Atalit. “He was a wonderful and handsome guy. Always smiling, he liked being with friends, and telling jokes,” said Arkan. “Even if he was angry at you, he would immediately forgive and laugh it off. He didn’t deserve to die like this. He was a soldier who gave a lot to the country.”

Carmel’s mayor, Faraj Mansoor, who is also a relative of the victim, said that Nidal was an exemplary soldier, as well as being an outstanding leader at a local community center, and an athlete. “I met him two weeks ago, and he told me he was planning on beginning an officer’s course. We as family pinned many hopes on him, and a golden future awaited him,” said the mayor.

Look at this….i’m speechless, all of sudden something comes in and ruins your life, again…

    Nothing else to say…

CIS Sports: 60 Thousand Condoms In 10 Days

There are alot of speculations about the sex affection on the sports performance, some say it’s bad, some say it’s good. According to the amount of Condoms that’ll be distributed during the Commonwealth of Independent States Sports games in Australia on March 2006, the answer is pretty clear.

The assumptions of “Ensel”, the provider of the condoms in the CIS sports game, and in other olympic games, each one of the sportsmen will have sex 10 times in 11 days, which means: 60,000 Condoms will be provided at Melburne next year.
